The Midhurst Bowling Club held their Club Championships finals over the weekend of 7th and 8th of September. The weather was once again kind to us and the finals were hotly contested and enjoyed by the players and spectators.
This year we were rewarded to see a few new members having qualified into the mix and taking part in the finals. Some who only started playing bowls just this year. A great accomplishment and very encouraging for the future of the club.
In the Mens Singles Dave King is once again on the honours board, his experience showing in his win over Steve Hotston. The Ladies Singles Championship was won by Carol Harkness over Anne Chuter.
The finalists of The Mens Handicap and the Novice Cup were Andy Hiscock and Adrian Gunter who shared the honours and had one win each. Andy taking the Novices and Adrian the Handicap. The ladies handicap this year was won by Anne Chuter defeating Stella Tait.
Stella was also in the Ladies Pairs final with her partner Catherine Dixon who were narrowly beaten by Corina Pearce and Anne Chuter. The Mixed pairs title went to Paul Chuter and Pam Hiscock beating Gerald Dixon and Angie Hotston.
David Mayne and Bruce Kirby, both new players and with their respective partners Paul Chuter and Bob Butterfield competed for the title of Mens Pairs. Although a close fought game the victors were Paul and David.
The Seniors title between Dave King and Bob Butterfield this year went to Dave King.
The Ron Petty Triples Cup was won by Maria Owen, Martin Ruinet and Paul Chuter.
Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all who took part.
